Abstract

The co-operative housing sector in Britain has recently been in the paradoxical position of experiencing universal political support for its achievements, rapid growth in some areas, and severe problems in others, culminating in the launch of a ‘Time for Action’ campaign and the sudden winding up of the National Federation of Housing Co-operatives (NFHC). The paper suggests that  main forces at work, the impacts, and implications for future actions.
